Like you, we have been missing our time outdoors and on the rock through this COVID crisis and looking forward to the opportunity to climb with you at Smith Rock. Looking ahead towards the summer months responsibly and address COVID-19 concerns, Chockstone Climbing Guides is looking at the developing data, following our state guide lines, considering AMGA guide industry recommendations and communicating with our local climbing area land managers to help us steer our process in opening. We are working hard to best inform and prepare our clients and guides prior to our opening.
Currently Smith Rock State Park is expected to open for day use on May 14 with limited access and restrictions. We continue to suspend all programs until we are confident that we can follow state business opening and social distancing guidelines.
June 1st – Expected opening for Private Guided Day Trips
June 15th – Expected opening for Camps and Courses
As we consider how to best move forward responsibly in the near future here are some of our thoughts and considerations in coming out of the COVID -19 shut down: our guides have been socially distancing and we hope that our clients will have also been respectful to the social distancing guidelines in their communities. We will have masks available on request and provide hand sanitizer.
We are happy to take reservations for any date after June 1st. We understand it is hard to predict how the coronavirus outbreak may affect your travel plans and in turn your Chockstone guiding date therefore to help the reduce pressure to attend a trip when public health conditions pose a high risk to yourself or others, we have adopted the following policy:
-You may cancel a course or camp reservation up to one week prior with no charge and a full refund of course or camp deposit.
-You may reschedule or cancel your private climbing reservation at any time up to a week prior to the reserved date.
