Climb and Camp with the Whole Family

We offer single day or multi-day trips for families complete with  personalized, private instruction and guiding and a beautiful campsite to return to. Rock climbing with the family provides opportunities for adventure, bonding, and learning new skills while building confidence together. Combined with camping at Smith Rock, our family camp allows the best opportunity to take in this world-renowned destination while maximizing your climb time. Enjoy exciting climbs while taking in the morning glow, the evening sunset and the starry nights.

Camping and Climbing Made Easy

With Chockstone Climbing Guides' family camp, you can effortlessly extend your vacation with a night or two of camping, without the hassle of bringing along all the essential camping gear.

Our AMGA-certified guides and instructors are trained to create a fun and safe environment for the whole family. We strive to make sure every climber has a comfortable, safe experience out on the crag, regardless of experience level. Great for beginners and seasoned climbers alike, our family camp is here to help you learn new skills and climb with confidence!

Cost:  private guided day climbing rate plus $100 for the first night of camping and $50 for every night past first night.

Full Day

1 person $350 a day
2 people $200 per person
3 person $145 a day
4 people $110 per person
5+ people $90 per person
The full day does not have set hours. The day is yours. Most people climb 6 to 8 hours. The full day allows for more time to climb and move to different parts of Smith Rock State Park. Some climbing goals will require a full day.

HALFDAY

1 person $320 a day
2 people $160 per person
1 person $130 a day
4 people $100 per person
5+ people $85 per person
The half-day is designed for those with a limited time commitment, families and younger children. Half days run 4 hrs and we climb at one of the more easily accessible areas in the park to best maximize time on the rock. The curriculum may include basic knots, belaying, movement technique and lots of time on the rock!
Due to the COVID, beginning 2019 we have been offering Family Climbing Camp exclusively as an added service for individual families.  Look for future Open Family Climbing Camp dates for an opportunity to meet other families interested in climbing, exploring and making new friends.

Camping Details

                What's Included:

  • We provide a full kitchen set up for you to use; cooler, stove, pots, pans, dishes etc.
  • Set up tents and camp chairs
  • Camp is set up the Smith Rock Bivouac Campground; a unique, walk-in, tent-only campground located within the park boundaries and only a five minute walk to the crag. There are showers, flush toilets, hot water, bathrooms and charging ports.

                   Not Included:

  • Sleeping bags are not included
  • Food – a few staples such as olive oil, salt, pepper and some spices are provided
  • $8 per person camping fee paid to Smith Rock State Park
